Rome Floyd NAACP

The NAACP, or the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, is one of the oldest and most influential civil rights organizations in the United States. It was founded in 1909 with the mission of ensuring the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights for all persons and eliminating race-based discrimination. The NAACP has historically fought against segregation, lynching, and other forms of racial injustice through legal action, advocacy, and grassroots mobilization. Today, it continues to work towards racial equality and social justice through initiatives such as voter education, criminal justice reform, and economic empowerment programs.

Our History

Our Mission

The organization works towards achieving its mission through advocacy, litigation, education, and community mobilization to address systemic injustices and promote civil rights and social justice for all individuals, regardless of race or ethnicity.

President Malone is a community leader who oversees the organization's activities and initiatives in Rome, GA. She is responsible for representing the NAACP's interests at the local level, advocating for civil rights and social justice issues, collaborating with other community organizations, and mobilizing members to address local challenges related to racial equality.

Larry Morrow Sr. is a dedicated community leader  who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of those we serve. Mr. Morrow is involved with several other community organizations such as the 100 Black Men of Rome and is dedicated to building up young men in our community.

Secretary Jackie Jenkins

Jackie Jenkins  plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our local chapter. Secretary Jenkins also serves as the Georgia State NAACP Secretary while also serving on several other community boards. She is committed to racial equality and unity.

This team works to advance the NAACP's policy priorities by lobbying elected officials, advocating for legislative reforms, and participating in electoral activities such

Mr. Malone is a part of our political action team within the NAACP  and focuses on engaging in political advocacy and mobilization efforts to address systemic issues affecting communities of color.  He also serves on several other boards and is an amazing community leader. His experience is unmatched and he is a valuable resource to the NAACP.

Shonna Bailey is an active community leader and has dilligently served on the executive board helping to make ground breaking changes in our communities. She is also a Licensed Real Estate Broker and owner of Shonna Bailey Real Estate Consulting Firm.

Education: Barbara Cochran

The education department of the Rome Floyd  NAACP branch focuses on addressing issues related to education equity and advocating for quality education for all students, particularly those from marginalized communities. This department works to ensure that students have access to equitable resources, opportunities, and support systems necessary for academic success.

Freedom Fund : Chloe Garthfielder

Chloe Garthfielder is a powerful resource to the NAACP. She  advocates for justice, education, and activism while also organizing fund raisers for the NAACP. She also organizes the Freedom Fund banquet for the NAACP Annually.

Youth Director Marquita Davis

Marquita is responsible for leading and organizing initiatives that engage young people in civil rights advocacy and activism. She works to empower youth members to become leaders and advocates for social justice within their communities.
